The rewarding aspect of this project was applying sound design methodologies and research to come up with something that exceeded the expectations of the client from a place of no understanding or experience. This project outcome reminded me that observation, intuition, and research could win the day.
This design family was chosen by the client and was manufactured.
I produced handmade prototypes for function and form evaluation.
Creating this fully functional DLP projector required me to work closely with engineers to create the complex surfaces. Then I had to collaborate with model makers to select the right materials and the desired final outlook. Photoshop renders, did much of the heavy lifting, but effective communication often requires much more than a picture. I believe that my most successful designs are the projects where I communicated to the development team the clearest.
